Agriculture

The use of 5G in agriculture is expected to help solve the labor shortage.

Automation of agricultural operations

The TV drama "Shitamachi Rocket" featured an automatic tractor, and 5G will play an active role in the automatic control of agricultural machinery and remote control when necessary. The camera attached to the tractor transmits high-definition images in real time to the control room, enabling remote control. Since one person can operate multiple tractors, it is possible to expand the area of crops per person within a limited period of time.

In addition to tractors, drones could be used to spray water and chemicals, and feeding robots could be used to feed livestock remotely and automatically using 5G.

AI-based management of crops and livestock

In addition to 5G, crop growth management can use AI-based analysis to improve efficiency.

For example, images of paddy fields taken from above by drones are transmitted via 5G, and AI analyzes the growth status to provide appropriate water supply and fertilizer application.

In the livestock industry, livestock can be monitored using video images, and any abnormalities can be identified and reported to veterinarians. By enabling early diagnosis and early response, damage caused by diseases can be minimized.
